Aquatic facility industry heads for Atlanta

Thomas M. Lachocki, PhD, CEO of the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF), is a featured speaker at the upcoming World Aquatic Health Conference (WAHC).

'Healthy Pools, Healthy Bodies' will be the theme for the 2009 World Aquatic Health Conference (WAHC), set to take place in Atlanta, Ga., from October 28 to 30.

Hosted by the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF), the WAHC is a global aquatic research forum for aquatic facilities professionals, who come to learn and exchange information on emerging trends and issues.

A number of seminars are on tap for this year's conference, on topics such as drowning, injury and illness prevention, new technologies and the benefits of aquatic exercise. All seminars will be be videotaped and subsequently posted on the Internet, allowing people around the world access to cutting-edge research from industry-leading thinkers.

This year's event will be held in partnership with the National Environmental Public Health Conference (NEPHC), which takes place from October 26 to 28, also in Atlanta. It is being organized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Environmental Health, the Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry (ATSDR) and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).
