Aloha Pools Ltd., in Burnaby, B.C., won a gold award for this concrete pool installation in the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada's 2008 Design & Construction Awards.

Pool/spa builders and landscapers have until October 20 to submit their entries for the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada's (PHTCC) 2009 Design & Construction Awards, which recognize the best in pool, hot tub and landscape design.

This year's awards will be more comprehensive than ever, as the council teams up with Kenilworth Media Inc., publisher of Pool & Spa Marketing and Pools, Spas & Patios magazines, to provide the Canadian pool and spa/hot tub industry with a single national competition recognizing industry excellence. In honour of the 50th anniversary of pool and spa associations in Canada, members of Quebec's L' Association des commerçants de piscines du Québec (ACPQ), will also be eligible to enter their designs in this year's competition.

A panel of judges representing various swimming pool and spa designers, builders and installers from across Canada will choose the winning entries, focusing on the esthetic features of the installation including decking, landscaping and other amenities. Gold, silver and bronze awards will be handed out in 45 categories at an evening gala on December 9, 2009, at the Canadian Pool and Spa Conference & Expo. All entries will be displayed on the show floor for the duration of the conference.

The October 20 deadline also applies to nominations for the following council awards:

• Industry Achievement Award, which recognizes individuals who have given back to their community;
• Dealer of the Year Award, given for the best in customer service, customer satisfaction and industry involvement; and
• Supplier of the Year Award, which recognizes commitment to product quality, service and customer satisfaction.

Details on the competition are available by calling the PHTCC at (905) 761-7920.
