Funding confirmed for Nova Scotia facility |
The new, federally funded Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC) will include a six-lane, 25-m (82-ft) swimming pool. The federal government has pledged up to $10.35 million towards the construction of the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC), a new recreation and aquatic facility to be built in Bridgewater, N.S. The federal funds were allotted from the Major Infrastructure Component (MIC) of the Building Canada Fund (BCF), intended to help finance projects starting in the 2009 and 2010 construction seasons. According to a recent article on SouthshoreNow News.com, the total cost of the construction project is estimated at roughly $32 million. The province had previously announced $10 million in funding for the facility, with the Town of Bridgewater and Municipality of Lunenburg also contributing. The facility is set to house a public library, two regulation-sized National Hockey League (NHL) ice pads, a walking track and an aquatic centre, complete with a six-lane, 25-m (82-ft) pool.
