3M discontinuing line of pool plaster additives |
3M will discontinue its line of Colorquartz™ pool plaster additives by the end of the year. Following a review of the company's product portfolio, 3M, in St. Paul, Minn., has announced it will be phasing out its Colorquartz™ ceramic colour-coated crystals product line by December 31, 2009. Both the 'S' and 'T' grade line of plaster additives, which features coloured crystals randomly distributed within the pool plaster, will be discontinued as the company plans to exit the pool and spa plastering business as a result of the current economy and reduced demand. Pool contractors can still buy Colorquartz™ as several distributors and applicators still have the product in stock, while 3M has a limited amount of product in stock. 3M is not selling the brand because the proprietary blend in Colorquartz™ is used in other product lines carried by the company. The company is working with its customers to ensure a smooth transition and will continue to honour the Colorquartz™ warranty.
