Halifax finds new federal funds |
©Dreamstime.com Recreational facilities across Halifax will reap the rewards of funding from the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program. The Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is the latest Canadian jurisdiction to benefit from Canada's Economic Action Plan. Minister of National Defence and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway, Peter McKay, announced HRM would receive $710,000 from the federal government to support several upgrades for the region's recreational facilities, as part of the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program. Among the sites that will benefit from the funding is the Bedford Lion's Club Pool, which will undergo upgrades designed to enhance safety and accessibility for its splash pool and 25-m (82-ft) outdoor pool. The RInC will pitch in $160,000 towards the refurbishing, with HRM contributing $320,000. Remaining RInC funds will be spent on the Wanderers Grounds Field House facility and several sports courts around the region.
