Photo courtesy Landscape Ontario Organizers of Landscape Ontario's Congress received positive comments from exhibitors, who said they were busier than anticipated and picked up several promising leads. Landscape Ontario's Congress, one of Canada's largest horticultural, lawn and garden trade shows, is celebrating a successful 2010 show during which attendance increased by 22 per cent. Considering current economic conditions, show organizers were pleased with the outcome of the conference, noting the impact the landscape and environmental horticulture industries have on Canada's overall economy. "We are extremely pleased with the successes we experienced at Congress this year," says show manager, Paul Day. "The landscaping industry plays a significant role in Canada, making the tools and information landscaping professionals acquire at Congress indispensable to the growth and success of the industry." The industry comprises 20,000 small businesses with an estimated annual economic impact of $14.48 billion. Furthermore, the industry employs 132,000 individuals and generates $3.8 billion annually in labour income. Landscape Ontario's 2011 Congress will take place January 11–13.
