The Aquatic Risk Management (ARM) online training course is easy to access, with an interactive format that allows for more dynamic learning.

A new interactive course to help aquatic facility managers and operators reduce risk and liability is now being offered through the National Swimming Pool Foundation's (NSPF's) training website (www.eProAcademy.org).

Titled 'Aquatic Risk Management' (ARM), the online course features video, images, narration and exercises to enhance students' knowledge of the Aquatic Risk Management handbook, which was released in 2009. Designed to assist facility mangers and operators protect customers and staff, the two-hour ARM course allows students to work through a series of topics using illustrated case studies and examples.

"Aquatic facilities have hazards. Managing the risk can make the difference between prosperity and catastrophe," says Alex Antoniou, PhD, NSPF's director of educational programs. "The operator or manager's job is to maximize value with suitable programming and minimize risk. The ARM course and handbook teach the tools so professionals can do their job more effectively."

The course includes a discussion of the aquatic risk management process and includes content on the following topics:

  • The law and the aquatic professional;
  • Case studies on how judgments are reached;
  • Aquatic risk management best practices;
  • Implementing a risk management plan; and
  • Emergency response plans.

Students can register for the ARM training module online or by calling (719) 540-9119.
