Pentair Water Pool and Spa, headquartered in Sanford, N.C., has positioned itself to become one of South America's largest pool equipment manufacturers after acquiring the assets of Grundfos Brazil's pool division. "The acquisition is part of the company's strategy of expanding in emerging markets," says Carlos Del Amo, Pentair's vice-president of marketing and product development. At the time of the acquisition, Grundfos Brazil was the country's fourth-largest producer of pool and spa equipment, according to Del Amo. The acquired products, which are currently marketed under the name Mark Grundfos, will be rebranded as Pentair Water Piscinas.
