| BioGuard donation helps family take a dip |
Photo courtesy Extreme Makeover: Home Edition In addition to a new home, this Geneva, N.Y.-family was also treated to a new swimming pool and a year's worth of pool chemicals and maintenance equipment. An episode of the ABC television show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition featured an inground vinyl-lined pool built by Tarson Pools & Spas, a BioGuard dealer in North Syracuse, N.Y. To help out with the project, BioGuard donated a year's worth of pool chemicals and maintenance equipment to the Hill family, the new pool owners. The television show helps people who help others, such as the Hill family, who run a boxing school for at-risk kids from their home in Geneva, N.Y. By focusing their attention on their boxing school, and funding it so students can participate free of charge, the Hills allowed their home to fall into disrepair. As a result, show star Ty Pennington and his team tore down their home and built a new one, complete with a pool for the family. One unique feature of the house is a drainage system that keeps the deck dry, prevents water damage and recycles the water. It is installed below the deck and allows water to run into a rain gutter and be stored and recycled with a rainwater harvesting system.
