| App makes chemical adjustments easy |
Photo courtesy National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF) The National Swimming Pool Foundation’s Pool Chemical iPhone® App offers several tools to properly calculate chemical doses to achieve the required chemical levels. Swimming pool chemical dosing can be performed easily and more accurately with help from the new Pool Chemical iPhone® App from the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF). The App's user-friendly interface provides pool technicians, facility/water treatment managers and residential pool/spa owners with several tools to help calculate the amounts needed for many chemical adjustments, including pre-loaded chemical formulas—organized by category—for most commonly used pool chemicals. It also features several calculations for routine adjustments, such as increasing/neutralizing chlorine, increasing/decreasing total alkalinity (TA), increasing stabilizer (cyanuric acid, [C3H3N3O3]) and increasing calcium hardness, for any size swimming pool. "A unique and time-saving feature allows the individual to customize the App by adding, modifying or deleting chemical formulas," explains Alex Antoniou, PhD, NSPF's director of education. "People can create their own dosages based on the products they are using. They just enter the information from the product label. "Another new feature will calculate how much a chemical being used will cost," he continues. "The user simply enters the product per-unit cost in the formula. Once the calculator determines how much of the chemical to add, the cost calculator tells how much it will cost." The Pool Chemical App can be used on iPhone,® iPod Touch® and iPad® products.
