The National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF) has launched a new online training course and supplementary handbook on aquatic facility safety audits to educate industry members about their importance. The course teaches participants how to plan and conduct a safety audit, formulate corrective action, write audit reports and conduct followups to ensure the desired corrective actions are taken. It also instructs participants how to train staff to conduct on-site self audits, develop operational and emergency procedures (e.g. proper documentation and maintenance plans) and recognize ways to improve operational and staff management. "Drowning, disease and injury prevention start with understanding specific hazards," says NSPF's CEO, Thomas M. Lachocki, PhD. "The Aquatic Facility Audits course helps managers, operators and service professionals view the facilities they operate with a fresh eye focused on reducing risk." The interactive course features narration, images, video and exercises. It also includes a copy of the recently published NSPF handbook, Aquatic Facility Audits. The course can be completed in approximately two hours and costs $50 US per student. Participants can register for the course online at www.nspf.org by clicking on the 'ePro Academy Online Training Center' button, or e-mail
