Canadian company powers Red Sea surf project

A Canadian-headquartered aquatic manufacturer is behind the delivery of a new surf lagoon anchoring a large-scale sports and entertainment district in Saudi Arabia.
Richmond, B.C.-based WhiteWater supplied multiple water attractions at ADRENA, an adventure-focused district within The Red Sea development by Red Sea Global. The project includes a programmable surf lagoon delivered through WhiteWater’s wave technology division, Endless Surf.
The surf system uses pneumatic wave-generation technology and software-controlled programming to adjust wave height, shape, angle, and interval. The system is designed to create a range of wave profiles suited to different skill levels and operational needs.
The lagoon operates using seawater sourced directly from the Red Sea through a closed-loop filtration and circulation system. Water is drawn in, filtered, and circulated through the lagoon before being returned to the sea. According to the company, the approach is intended to deliver a saltwater experience while maintaining water quality.

ADRENA features more than 20 land- and water-based attractions, including a wakeboarding lake, stationary wave feature, and snorkelling trails. Several of the aquatic installations were delivered as part of an integrated package by WhiteWater.
The project is part of a broader expansion of surf lagoon installations globally, with additional developments planned in Brazil, the United States, Mexico, and other locations in Saudi Arabia. ADRENA officially opened to the public on March 1.
