An indoor community pool in Ross River, Yukon, will remain closed for yet another summer season.

According to CBC, the pool has been closed since 2018. While there were plans to reopen it in 2023, it was condemned after an assessment revealed structural issues.

In August 2024, Yukon’s Highways and Public Works department conducted a structural and geotechnical assessment of the indoor pool to explore repair options.

A final report released in February confirmed major foundation and structural damage caused by uneven settling and permafrost degradation. As a result, the pool will stay closed for another year.
