Recreation facilities in Nova Scotia receive $3.1M boost

The Nova Scotia government is investing $3.1 million to build and improve community recreation facilities across the province. The funding will support 85 projects led by municipalities and non-profit organizations.
The investment will help communities upgrade swimming pools, recreation centres, parks, athletic fields, rinks, and other public spaces. The projects are funded through three provincial grant programs that support community infrastructure. The funding includes $49,500 for the Kiwanis Club of Sydney, $35,300 for the Northside Pool Commission in North Sydney, $45,000 for the Truro Centurions Swim Club, and $30,000 for the Banook Canoe Club in Dartmouth.
“Great communities are built around places where people can gather, get active and get involved,” says Dave Ritcey, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “With this investment, we’re making sure more Nova Scotians have access to safe, welcoming spaces where the whole community can thrive.”
The funding flows through three grant programs designed to address different community needs. Of these, the Recreation Facility Development Grant program is funding 26 projects. A complete list of Recreation Facility Development Grant recipients is available here.
